Learning to Dance is Fun and Easy at Firefly Dance Club

Learning to dance at Firefly Dance club is great fun. You can learn in group or private classes and enjoy our social events. We run a carefully planned program covering Ballroom, Latin, Swing and Salsa social partner dancing with the express intention of giving you the confidence to dance in real social settings.

You can progress through our programs, learning new dance steps and partnering techniques, while constantly reviewing and incorporating what you already know. This way you retain the memory of existing dance steps. We will help you become as good a dancer as you can be.

Firefly Dance Club caters for adults of all ages – from Beginners to more advanced, although most people start with us as absolute beginners. Many couples choose Firefly as the place to dance when they want to spend quality time together. Singles like our great “Club” atmosphere where they can mix with a range of others with a similar interest in dance.

With Firefly’s emphasis on using your dance skills along with our inclusive culture, all who join us find that dancing at Firefly is fun – and addictive!!

Group classes at Firefly Dance Club

Group Classes are a great way to learn to dance while meeting new people, who are all looking for fun, fitness and challenge in a friendly environment with those at a similar level. Our easiest level (Beginner 1 and the Sampler class) is aimed at those who have never danced before or who need a refresher, having not danced recently. As Firefly Dance Club expects everyone to rotate in group classes, you will also have the opportunity to dance with many other people, an important and necessary step in learning to dance well and becoming confident in social dancing.

At Firefly Dance Club, you can be involved in our Group Class program in a number of ways:

Casual Group Classes require no booking and each class can be taken on its own. There are changes week by week, rotating through the dance styles we offer, to keep momentum for regular attendees. Casual classes range from beginner level (e.g. Dance Sampler) where you need no previous experience in dance, to more advanced classes that have pre-requisites.

8 Week Group Classes require advance booking and commitment for the 8 weeks they run. Each week your teacher will introduce new patterns as well as review what you have learned before and teach you how to put the dance patterns together. As our intention is to make sure that by the end of the 8 weeks you feel confident dancing the patterns taught, Firefly does not rush you through lots of dance patterns you will never remember. Series group classes may focus on individual dances styles such as Salsa or be made up of a mixture of styles such as Partner Dancing for Beginners Level I or II. Custom Group Classes are where you organise a group of friends (from 3 people to 30) to come for a regular dance lesson together, weekly or fortnightly, at Firefly Dance Club. If you would like us to run a class for you and your friends, give us a call on 1300 725 977 to discuss the details.

Memberships: if you like to attend a number of classes each week take a look at becoming a Firefly Dance Club Full Member. This allows you to attend all casual classes at your level or below and get 20% off our 8 week series classes for one low monthly payment.

Private Lessons at Firefly Dance Club

Private lessons are all about you and your dancing needs. Our professional staff give you personalised instruction and cover the technique and skills you need to look and feel terrific on the dance floor while making sure you have a great time.

Firefly Dance Club’s teachers work with you to identify, set and meet your individual goals while making sure you a really enjoyable experience along the way. You can have a private lesson all to yourself or share with a partner or friend. We are very flexible at Firefly and can schedule lessons at times that suits you.

While you are taking private lessons at Firefly Dance Club you can attend the Dance Sampler Group Class (aimed at absolute beginners) at no extra cost. To achieve your goals more quickly, we recommend that a mixture of private and group classes are undertaken along with regular attendance at social dance events such as the Firefly Friday dance nights.

Social Dance Events

Social dancing is particularly important to improve and consolidate your dancing skills and gain real satisfaction from your interest in dance. Therefore, Firefly organises a number of events each year where you can practice your new skills in a supportive and fun environment, with people around you who you have probably already met at Firefly. Dancing with a range of people in addition to your teacher makes you much more adaptable and skilful in leading and following in a social setting which is, after all, what learning to dance is about for most people as well as being the speciality and purpose of the Firefly Dance Club. Our social events are very friendly and we encourage everyone to dance with a range of partners – no one is left sitting watching for long.

Firefly Friday Dance Nights run throughout the year and everyone is welcome (not just those who have lessons at Firefly). Other special events include our Annual Ball held in October and Dinner Dance Demonstration held in May.
