How is Firefly involved in the local community?
Firefly Dance Club is involved in the local community in a number of ways:
- Dance demonstrations at local community fairs and events (eg Artamon Fair for our 3rd. year).
- Donations of prizes to local schools, networks and charity fund raising events (e.g. Relay for Life in 2009).
- Dance demonstrations and classes at local community facilities for retirees and the elderly.
- In 2009, Firefly Dance Club raised over $2000 for Petrea King’s Quest for Life Foundation which provides support services for those with life threatening diseases.
- Firefly’s owner is a Director of the Artarmon & St Leonards Chamber of Commerce and a number of local networking forums.
- Providing an alternate form of fitness and place of recreation on the Lower North Shore.
While we are, as yet, a small team, Firefly is really interested in being involved in and supporting our local community. Social partner dance is about fun, fitness and meeting people with a common interest.
